Decadent Dark Chocolate 4-Layer Cake

 

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup dutch processed cocoa powder
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp espresso powder

Wet Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 cup of room temperature coffee
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup canola or vegetable oil
Preheat oven to 350
Mix dry ingredients in large bowl
Mix Wet ingredients in a medium bowl
Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients and mix with a hand or stand mixer until all is combined
Gather 2 round baking pans and line with parchment paper
Pour in mixture evenly to the 2 baking pans
Bake for 30-45 minutes in the oven
Stop baking when a toothpick can be inserted in the center and removed clean
Let cakes cool for 30 minutes
Slice each cake horizontally in half and set aside to cool
Spread frosting on each face up cake, then stack
Decorate as you wish!
